Communities like this pop up regularly but are naturally unstable. They sometimes (often?) work great while their members are like-minded, young and healthy. Over the years the population inevitably drifts and the community either collapses or becomes more and more embedded in the surrounding society, which has more stable institutions to deal with people not thinking alike.
