  Well, calling it "decoration" in itself implies that it's not important, so it's not saying much. Not sure I get your point…?

    To both of you (sgdesign, justinph), yes design is 'how it works' as well as 'how it wears time and use' and 'how it breaks'. I did not just use two words--design and decoration--to mean the same thing. That would be almost as redundant as what I'm doing now. :)
