First of all, very good news. Second of all, what does this mean for Fuchsia, Dart, and related projects? I always assumed they were a hedge against Google having to pay exorbitant licensing fees to Oracle. Now that the threat has disappeared, will those projects be sunsetted too?
- rileyteige 6y agoGiven the investment going into Flutter for cross-platform mobile (and now desktop and web) development, I would be very surprised to see Dart get Google Readered.
- johnnycerberus 6y agoTo be honest, the investment into Flutter pales in comparison to Android (mobile, TV, ChromeOS, etc.). Flutter has always been a side project.
- usbfingers 6y agoAgreed, very good news though I'm left with the same question. It doesn't inspire that much confidence, but the recent embrace of Flutter from Canonical leaves me hopeful even if Google did drop from active lang / framework development, it wouldn't be left to dry.
