My "old is new" setup is similar in spirit but quite different in effect. I use rails, postgres, and docker. The only weird thing in the stack is that I use a pretty big base image - the ubuntu base image. Where I need SPA-like performance, I use react-rails to just do that little bit in React. Rails has so many batteries included, I just can't imagine being as productive in anything less mature.
