It’s easy to blame the police when they have so many things falling to them. Politicians want them to enforce drugs, force certain habits, generate revenue, and uphold order. Which is fun because when one group has finally elected themselves into government and nothing improves, they blame the police in not accomplishing the goals. Meanwhile, all the think tanks in the world cannot get through to these politicians: hey, you know how you have fines for everything in this town, well it makes the populace dislike / hate the police because they feel shaken down all the time. How about your ratchet down you golden policies for x, y, or a so you can have nicer feeling police? Oh no, because you do not want to make hard choices or you have too many constituents who are rent seeking with that money?
