- threeseed 6y agoReviews of the Ford Mach-E have actually been pretty good. Ranging from 8 to 9/10 depending on the site.
- Corrado 6y agoI'm really looking forward to some competition for Tesla. I don't think I'm ready to purchase or even recommend a Mach-E but at least you can go to a dealer and drive one. That's much better than most other BEV cars that are "available". My bigger concern is charging infrastructure. Tesla is just so far ahead in that area that it will be difficult for others to catch up in the short term. Especially if they don't get their act together and concentrate on it.
- clouddrover 6y ago> Tesla is just so far ahead in that area that it will be difficult for others to catch up in the short term. Not really. There are many CCS charging sites worldwide. The fastest CCS chargers are 350 kW (with some at 400 kW), which is faster than Tesla's fastest chargers. It's too bad that Tesla hasn't yet switched to CCS plugs in North America like they have in Europe. If Tesla switched to CCS then drivers of new Teslas would have access to many more charging sites with no need for adapters.
- Corrado 6y agoYes, there are logs of CCS charging sites but IMHO the whole Tesla charging environment is miles ahead of any of the others. To charge while I'm on the road, I just ask my car for the nearest charging location. It pulls up a map with all the nearest ones and gives me details about each one; if there are stalls available, what speed the chargers are, if there is a nearby coffee shop, etc. On the way there, the car prepares itself for charging, warming the battery if necessary, etc. When I get there I just pull in and plug in the car; no messing with a CC or an app, no trying to find out how much it costs, nothing. I walk away and the car lets me know when it's done. I'm not positive, but from everything I've seen about other BEV systems, this experience is fairly unique. Every review of competitors (Polestar, VW, Ford, etc.) I see on YouTube reports that charging those cars is much more difficult than it should be and is awash of unique and disparate motions.

Here's an example for Audi: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3fj973k4ZM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3fj973k4ZM
- Corrado 6y agoThat's actually pretty cool and I didn't know that other manufacturers had gotten to the point where it's actually useful. Though I prefer the Tesla all-in-one solution I do appreciate that there are third party apps that provide some extra functionality for other vendors.
- clouddrover 6y agoHere's another one. A Better Routeplanner (https://abetterrouteplanner.com/ https://abetterrouteplanner.com/) now has onboard integration with the Polestar 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_WJSjy5sQ4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_WJSjy5sQ4
- colinmhayes 6y agoWhat Ford EVs? They haven't released any. Mach-e looking like it'll be a very solid car.
