I think this is why the grand-parent is perhaps making an error in thinking that e.g. space travel or computing are silos unto their own.
Having worked in wet labs and deep learning labs, I think we've a lot to gain from increasing our ability to simulate experiments in silico and automate biological processes.
A lot of the room for improvement has been carved out by improvements in machine learning.
