Biden Infrastructure Plan Promises Broadband to All Within 8 Years
- db48x 6y agoPointless, since we’ve already paid billions upon billions to the telcos and gotten very little for it. Also, in less than 8 years Starlink will be available world–wide, and anyone without other types of broadband access will be using it. Telcos will have to up their game to compete with it even in reasonably dense cities. My own internet access is fairly good, but expensive, so Starlink will be quite tempting once it’s available at my latitude. On the other hand, I think Wave Broadband’s fiber service is available just a block away, and I saw a bunch of their trucks on my street last month… Also, I don’t think that deficit spending on infrastructure projects is any kind of magic fix, but you can’t tell a politician that. Spending the public’s money in flashy but inefficient ways buys the votes.
