This feels more practical rather than ideological, which I intend as a compliment. Small team, get people focused, pay enough to not worry about personal financial stress, and let equity act as the primary reward system.

I support generous profit sharing. Equity, bonuses, dividends, and even compensation. Whatever works. How generous? Working towards a Gini coefficient in the 0.25 - 0.3 range is a good start. Enough head room for over achievers, without leaving anyone in the dust.
