Holy shit. I don't think I've ever seen someone say so little with so many words. Is this some sort of a meta-art piece? It feels like it was written by a high schooler with a thesaurus. I think I can convey the entirety of the essay in one sentence.
You have plenty of attention, just decide to stop wasting it on dumb shit.
Except that might actually be giving the author too much credit, I'm not sure there's actually as salient a point as that buried in there.
- woko 6y ago> Is this some sort of a meta-art piece? Given that it was posted on April 1, you might be onto something.
- tajd 6y agoI normally just want to write positive statements about work but I'm going to have to agree with you.
- qsort 6y ago> You have plenty of attention, just decide to stop wasting it on dumb shit. Even this, if you look close enough, is inconsistent. Why worry about wasting a resource that's supposedly plentiful? The comments to the OP are more revealing. I suspect the intended central point is a vague critique of the concept of scarcity itself.
- tempodox 6y agoSo the article is wasting your attention to prove that you have enough of it to waste?
- stareatgoats 6y agoThis whole blog seems dedicated to the thoughts of Ivan Illitch, and some insight into his thinking and related ideology is probably presumed. That aside, this rather brusque dismissal seems typical of one who does not understand, and therefore vilifies. If a full understanding based on background reading is out of reach for you then just let it slide instead would be my advice.
