I have seen a number of articles like this that breathlessly cry “your boss can read your Slack messages.” My first thought is always, “duh.” Does anyone have an expectation of privacy on work provided comms? I mean, they’re for work. If you want to have a sensitive, private conversation, use Signal.
My second is that it is disingenuous to claim that your boss can read them. Only Workspace Owners can export messages. This article does a decent job of spelling that out, but it also feels a bit like they are reaching. Who cares if your colleagues can learn your time zone from your profile?
