Give NILFS2 [1] a try. It's log structured so the writes do not cause overwrites of filesystem metadata, directories nor files. I have a very old, very slow SSD extracted from Asus EeePC, in an auxilliary computer; NILFS2 makes it crazy fast write-wise when compared to XFS and ext4.
