In addition, to the more traditional statistics I have an interest in the Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) space and have also participated in several Kaggle competitions (i.e. the Human Protein Atlas Challenge). These curricular and extracurricular pursuits have provided me with a good perspective on the strengths and weaknesses of the different schools of thought with regards to solving complex modelling problems. What makes me tick is the application of the latest theoretical developments to practical use cases and in the process get acquainted with the ever-changing world of frameworks and libraries that goes with it.
