I bought a free-spinning flywheel mouse. Apparently scrolling through meters of documentation using a ratchet-like scrollwheel was putting too much strain on my muscles. Now I can quickly skim effortlessly with just a few flicks and breaks. Also exercising helps for neck and shoulder areas.
