Remove RMS from the GCC Steering Committee
- akagusu 6y agoWill this submission be flagged as the others that are supporting RMS?
- salawat 6y agoThis will likely be so if it's not adding anything more to the discussion, revealing new information, or intended to only prolong any type of controversial flamewar. I say this as an RMS supporter, but it is just how the community works. @dang, If you're about, could we get the obligatory dedup post, links to prior art?
- feverzsj 6y agonot surprised, if you see the steering committee members: https://gcc.gnu.org/steering.html https://gcc.gnu.org/steering.html
- flagpole 6y agoIf you look at the last message, the news here is that the SC now has removed from RMS from the SC webpage, while asserting that he wasn't really a member anyway. It is quite sad that rich Facebook developers can write generic boilerplate that links RMS to harming people and no one bats an eye. No one examines the actual harm that Facebook has done vs. harm RMS has done (all imaginary), because their salaries depend on it.
- knz_ 6y agoIt's nice to see some common sense on display. Removing him is the correct step. RMS is a known creep and very likely a pedophile, if his public opinions on child sex (and links to Minsky and Epstein) are anything to go by: > I am skeptical of the claim that voluntarily pedophilia harms children. The arguments that it causes harm seem to be based on cases which aren't voluntary, which are then stretched by parents who are horrified by the idea that their little baby is maturing. I can't imagine what the reaction would be if any (perceived left leaning) other celebrity had said these words. The same trump supporting kids defending RMS would probably be trying to find where they live and threatening their families, no doubt about it.
