My personal relationship with linked lists has had its highs and lows. When I was teaching myself C as a teenager, the linked list was the first pointer-based data structure I implemented myself, and the cause of so very many segfaults. I was so delighted to understand how it worked. But time passed, I eventually discovered languages that implement lists for you, and my relief was infinite. I'm glad I understand how linked lists work and I hope I rarely need that knowledge.
Unfortunately McDowell's Interview Book seems unstoppable and I expect to be answering list questions forever.
