That's a "feature" - high beam assist sucks. IMO the root cause of all these stupid safety/assist features is people not paying attention: Lane keep: because you're on your phone Collision detection/auto brake: because you're on your phone High Beam Assist: because you're on your phone Adaptive Cruise Control: so you can be on your phone Auto Headlights: because turning on your headlights means putting down your phone/coffee cup. I've only ever been annoyed by Collision Detection/High Beam Assist/Lane Keep/Auto headlights. They do the wrong thing at the wrong time.
