> My public college required everyone living in the dorm to get vaccinated for meningitis. It was not a big deal. I suppose people who didn't want the vaccine just didn't live there.
Vaccinations are safe and effective. People should get vaccinated. This is especially true for covid-19, where the disease is for many people serious and the vaccinations are very good and have few side effects.
But not everyone can get the vaccination. Any vaccine passport measures need to make sure they're not adding to the discrimination faced by people with certain disabilities or illnesses.
- smt88 6y agoI should be totally clear that I don't agree with the concept of vaccine passports unless they are: 1) anonymous (I don't need to give you my personal info for you to verify my vaccination status) 2) limited only to very serious illness 3) include exemptions for people who can't get them I'm not enthusiastic about them in general, but perhaps they're necessary if we have a dangerous, contagious disease that's going to float around forever.
