Getting bytes to disk more quickly
- snicker7 6y agoGreat to see Loudvic talk about this openly. Performance is often overlooked in Guix discussions (and other package managers). Guix performance is really aweful. One thing that is not discussed here is "accidental compiling". For reasons I don't understand, sometimes sources are available when substitutes (what Guix calls binaries) aren't. So you end up doing multi-hour upgrades, which should take a few seconds with any other package manager.
