I believe large number of candidate can't solve it on whiteboard in less than 10 minutes.
If you honestly think that University give diploma to people that can't write a linked list then we have a bigger problem as an industry!

Which is why I give them the choice between a whiteboard and a laptop, and give them closer to 45 minutes to do so, and give generous credit for close-enough solutions. A large number of them can't solve these questions under those constraints, either.
