Do you feel that CO2 is a big concern here, or did you just throw that in as a bit of snark for a project that you have no aesthetic affinity with?

- wiz21c 6y agoI must admit that sometimes I think the artists, especially the contemporary ones, are making things that are not really interesting in the artistic sense. I do appreciate the aesthetics of the piece that is provided here though. But besides that, the "conveyed idea" doesn't seem very smart to me. I understand artistic freedom though, but as such it can be criticized (which I do). AFAIC, moreover, the virtual-real distinction has been already, in some sense, covered. See for example the hyperrealism movement, or more closely a movie such as Existenz. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperrealism_(visual_arts) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperrealism_(visual_arts) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Existenz https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Existenz
- wombatmobile 6y agoWhat even is the aesthetic proposition here? I'm not sure I even get it on the artists terms. Is it the feeling of aliveness/presence/perspective that the artist obtained by simulating the sun? Or something to do with the duplicity of this sun being fake? Or some interplay of these two propositions? Something else entirely do you think?
