This reminds me of someone who used to work with me. She'd stare at me while I was working, and then I'd turn and she'd keep staring at me, and then she'd let a "Oh my God, you're so fucking old". She was in awe I was still alive and amazed by my old age. I was 29 at the time.
She was in charge of hiring campaigns, would come to the manager and tell him that someone had applied "but he's like old" (in his thirties). The expression on her face was as if it were a contagious disease or something; as if merely reading the résumé or saying the age out loud decreased her lifespan or endangered her life. It was hilarious.
- kowlo 6y agoDoesn’t sound hilarious. Sounds ageist. She shouldn’t have be involved in anything related to hiring.
- Jugurtha 6y agoShe was involved with the company for a very "young" period of time.
- facorreia 6y agoSounds illegal.
- xxxxxyy1 6y agoI had an interview where they weren't expecting me when I showed up (red flag 1) and the interviewer asked how old I was and after I responded said "wow you look like you're in high school" (red flag 2). I always wonder how far I could have taken that legally, but I'm not litigious.
- tjalfi 6y agoI'm in my 40s (and look it) but here's a response I used to use. "You look so young." "I have this portrait in my attic."
- Copenjin 6y agoI've read all those excerpt with a valley girl accent, depressing.
