You can do this with tmux too.
~/.tmux.conf:
# export to clipboard.
bind-key > run-shell -b 'tmux save-buffer - | xclip'
# paste from clipboard.
bind-key < run-shell -b '( xclip -o | tmux load-buffer - ) && tmux paste-buffer'
