The "developing a product and then offering the more or less completed product to the military" is how we got the Predator drone though.
- jabl 6y agoI'm not that familiar with that drone, but it seems to be a very modest R&D cost to develop. And by all means, when such an acquisition process works I'm sure it generally works somewhat well. My concern was more with larger more complex projects, where no individual company can afford to take the risk to develop it and then having the government say "nah, we're fine, we'll pass this time".
