Can someone explain why dredging alone isn't sufficient? Is it too slow?

  Really deep keel in not much water. At shore zero water. Ie It’s properly stuck

  I expect dredging will be the main solution. Dredges are just slow moving, so they’ve taken a while to arrive. I’d also expect some long reach excavators and/or draglines to be working from the shore and/or barges. They probably just underestimated the stuckedness at first. Throw in some ineptitude and corruption, and you have this royal mess.

  Are dredges normally expected to access underneath a ship? I thought under the typical use cases they have a clear work area.
