Because if this is real, it puts "accident" in a whole new context for me...

      That's some really bad reporting from Vice. That looks like some sort of holding pattern, which would be done to prevent having to drop anchor (if even feasible to do so where they were). Plus, there's all sorts of other lines in that diagram, Vice just chose to ignore everything except the crude joke they wanted to make.
