I'm presently in a 20 min neighborhood in Europe. You know how long people have been here? Since before the Romans. How long have cities* been in Australia? Couple of hundred years? Maybe that's really what this is all about. The train lines run into the cities on centuries-old routes, lifestyles have been built up for eons. The 'New world' has understandably got growing pains. * my first edit said 'people', not cool. Now I'm curious about what kind of cities the Aborigines had.
