When I switched to Linux, I installed Wine just so I can use foobar2000. The main things I wanted was multiple playlists, shuffle (which should remain in that order until changed again - one of the reasons to shift from other players) and play again exactly from where it was left off on a reboot. Once I came to know about deadbeef and found these features were present, I switched to it.
