Mac OS X Hits Stores This Weekend (2001)
- genmud 6y agoI have fond memories of waiting in line for this and 10.2. I think I had one of the black powerbooks at the time, but can't remember. Blast from the past!
- ec109685 6y agoI was an intern at Apple while Mac OS X was in beta. It was so slow at the time they had contests on who could introduce the biggest speed ups. Winner would get a top of the line Mac to develop on. I think it wasn’t until 10.3 where pre-linking was introduced, dramatically speeding everything up.
- firecall 6y agoFrom memory 10.1 was a big improvement. And I think was a free update. I was at the Paris Expo when the Beta was launched! Truely an exciting exciting event! Sadly the beta was all but unusable, despite looking amazing and butter smooth on stage when Jobs did the demo! I think it was the event where the Key Lime iBook was released too. Good times!
- Synaesthesia 6y agoOnly $129
- EricE 6y agoI have the beta and boxes/disks from all the paid versions still. And the Tangerine iMac I ran it all on until I got my first MacBook Pro (the one with the first screwed up nVidia chip that finally biffed it 10 years later).
- yesenadam 6y ago> More than $1,000 of the best fonts available today That seems to be a misprint?
- Synaesthesia 6y agoNo it does contain some nice font families.
- colejohnson66 6y agoSuch as Helvetica. That’s not a cheap one.
- brundolf 6y agoIt's become quaint to see an OS sold in stores at all, but it's especially odd coming from Apple. I just assumed Apple had always taken the "the OS is there to sell the hardware" approach.
