Why is censorship regularly put in quotation marks by the press?
- LatteLazy 6y agoPeople immediately say "Censorship isn't censorship if...".
- mancerayder 6y agoThat's what the problem is. Censorship is defined as limiting or removing content. It doesn't mean it's always illegal or legal, or morally correct or immoral, but because it has a bad connotation, and there's a pro-censorship (let's be honest) Zeitgeist at the moment, the press (the same press that should be fighting against most forms of censorship) has this desire to numb the effect of the word with quotes. Like it's not really censorship, it's, oh, eye-roll, "censorship."
