Seriously how do people stay in their jobs allowing crap like this to happen? The CIO or CTO at Citi should get the boot. Until companies like this and Sony start making examples of people, this kind of sloppiness that gives our industry a bad name will continue.
- groby_b 15y agoExcept the examples that will be made will not involve the CIO/CTO. And even if it did, the guy almost certainly a golden parachute - what does he care? As long as it's cheaper to clean up after the debacle than prevent it in the first place, that's what people will opt for.

If he really was fired and the company made a public stink about how much he screwed up, he may well care. Many people at that level care about their prestige, and care about being shamed in front of their peers, even when they don't need to worry financially.
