So, I got a bit curious about this PR-fest and decided to read this piece.
So this dude is at a party, where he knows nobody, except RMS which he recognizes by his voice(!). He then goes on to claim RMS is hitting on a 15-yr old girl by claiming to have invented Emacs. How does he know she is 15? How is talking about freakin' Emacs hitting on someone?
What seems clear to me that dude was very unhappy at a party. Film at 11.
- CodeGlitch 6y agoSlight correction to your post, the quote is: > The first time I was silent about rms was around 15 years ago. Did you see "15 years" and miss-read it as the girl's age? I agree with what you said though. It's almost like men aren't allowed to chat-up girls anymore. If she had said "go away" and RMS didn't comply then yes it could be seen as harassment I suppose...but there's no mention of that. All we have is 1 guys interpretation of the events. Also he assumes the girl knows nothing about emacs - is it because she is a girl? Other than that he criticises RMS for not getting on-board with a Code of Conduct. I'm on RMS's side here, it's not like CoCs are achieving anything positive in the world.
- the-dude 6y agoI stand corrected! Thanks.
