Great. Now all it needs is a functioning "APE" ("ANSI Posix Environment"), which, iirc was built by Tom Duff and sadly neglected ever since.
Once P9 gets over its insane NIH syndrome (or IHBBTWP, "Invented Here But By The Wrong Person", i.e. Stroustrup) it could maybe do some weird stuff like, I dunno, run a web browswer? I vividly remember people in the Unix room moving to a PC (running Windows?) to browse the web, ffs. Back in '94.
- nix23 6y agoIt (9front) has two browsers, but no c++ for obvious reasons.
- glangdale 6y agoWhich browsers? As far as I'm aware, there are multiple things that can kinda-sorta browse the web, for some value of "browse" and "web", but I'm not aware of anything a normal person would recognize as a web browser.
- nix23 6y agoMothra and Abaco. >but I'm not aware of anything a normal person would recognize as a web browser. Same could be said about hackernews (no facebook or twitter look...not even hashtag's), so be happy you are not "normal".
