Is there a smaller scale YC out there ? It seems odd that YC stands alone in such a lucrative problem space.
There has to be space for a YC like company which lends similar credentials, but provides more personalized support. (like YC when it first started)
- forgotmysn 6y agothere are dozens of start-up accelerators, for every niche and size of start-up
- screye 6y agoMy question is more about if there are any that carry the cachet of Ycombinator.
- forgotmysn 6y agoi dont think any of them will ever have the cachet that YC had, inclduing YC.
- jedberg 6y agoAre there any smaller scale Harvards out there with the same cachet?
- screye 6y agoCaltech is smaller and just as prestigious. Amherst College is really small for the reputation it carries. In India, the IITs are big, but IISc has a small intake + equivalent cachet. For design, you have RISD vs USC/CMU and Juilliard vs Berklee for performing arts. tl;dr - yes
- lacker 6y agoThere has to be space for a YC like company which lends similar credentials, but provides more personalized support. I feel like this is backwards. Back in 2010 Paul Graham could advise every YC company himself. But if anything that was less personalized. Back then YC didn't have experts in biotechnology, in hardware, or in the Latin American market. Nowadays there are many more YC partners, with different areas of specialty, so you can get more personalized support for your company.
