Consumer-grade RAM was ~$50/MB for a hot minute in the early to mid 90’s. Lots of machines shipped with 4MB, but 8 was the sweet spot for basic tooling around in Windows. I worked in tech support for a small laptop manufacturer in Ohio and we sold systems with 64M. Nearly $5k for a laptop, it blew my mind people would pay that much. I had that Voodoo 2 card as well, it was the bees knees.

  Our Pentium 100 had 16MB of RAM in 1995 and I thought that was impressive!

With my earliest computers, I kept buying laser printers with more RAM than the computer attached to them (I did subsequently upgrade the computers). I still remember what a strange and amazing thing it was when I first had a computer with 1G of RAM.

  For Postscript that was pretty much a given. Our work HP4 had more memory than any of our computers for a long while.

The https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodore_1571 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodore_1571 had a 2MHz 6502, the Commodore 64 a 1MHz 6510.   Muy first computer work 1GB ram was in 2000. It was given to me by work as it was a heavy UNIX server that had to be replaced on contract. I never managed to use more than half of it, as in those days it was still crazy much. The CPU was 120 MHz :)
