Ghost 4
- keiferski 6y agoThis sounds fantastic and looks like a far more elegant version of WordPress. Can anyone using Ghost give their thoughts on advantages and disadvantages? We do not, under any circumstances, accept Paypal. After reading that, I’m already sold.
- gbourne 6y agoI've used Ghost for years and it is just a pleasure to write articles. A clean interface, WYSIWYG (unlike Wordpress), and fast. And if you want to create your own theme (or use another), it is essentially Handlebars - easy to use. I find it an even better writing interface than Medium. Now that they are moving heavily into newsletters, all the better.
- keiferski 6y agoThanks, I appreciate it!
- throwawaysea 6y agoBut they support Stripe, who is just as arbitrary as PayPal and will block payments based on ideological grounds: https://www.wsj.com/articles/stripes-ban-on-trump-campaign-isnt-absolute-11610632728 https://www.wsj.com/articles/stripes-ban-on-trump-campaign-i...
- exac 6y agoThe top comment on the original 2017 Ghost 1.0 thread on hn is complaining about the lack of the dashboard they finally added. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=14864731 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=14864731
- gregoriol 6y agoGhost is getting more and more complex, maybe at some point we'll need a new platform that will be simple again
- TurkishPoptart 6y agoIs there a way to use this for free, by self-hosting?

- ktpsns 6y agoI remember when I first saw Ghost 1.0, it was a moment as when I first touched Google Mail. The UI was so slim and the web editor miles ahead of WordPress or any other concurrency. What's the situation nowadays? I haven't followed the evolution of Ghost in the last eight years.
