Facebook Helped the FBI Hack a Child Predator via 0-Day in Tails (2020)
- nibsfive 6y agoThis is a really fascinating and challenging story. Highly recommend reading it if anyone comes here to get the TL/DR.
- sufehmi 6y agoThe article shows a convo with the child predator via SMS, which of course reveals its number, which in turn makes it possible to track its location I'm confused to why couldn't FBI busted the bastard by this?
- nacs 6y agoCould have been a VOIP number
- whereis 6y agoWhat's disturbing is if we do get to a point where untraceable tech becomes ubiquitous, and such monsters truly can operate "above the law" (referring to the dialogue of the criminal in the article). This case will probably serve as an anecdote for the exceptional/lawful access topic. "But the children!" is an argument with merit, per this example.
