Toni Morrison: White People Have a Serious Problem
- chovybizzass 6y agoI don't get it. What's the problem?
- shmooth 6y agoi don't think i've ever heard her speak before. is that possible? that was good. and i thought i read _something_ of hers, but maybe not. damn. i appreciate the bravery of her pov, and a certain part of it seems correct -- racism is the racists' problem and they should think about what _they_ can do about it. i would still love to see some honest talk about race in this country. maaaaybe we're finally starting to get closer to thinking about talking about it? not sure. :-/
- throwaway29303 6y agoMaybe racism isn't in itself really about race but a rooted "power trip" pathology which also manifests itself as racism. If so then this behaviour should be observed in other aspects of these people's lives. How would these people behave with their own peers? Are they controlling? How violent would they be against their own? Do they like to look at their peers on their knees? Etc. I feel like this is more about power than anything else. And you can observe this behaviour on "non-racists" (or activists for a lack of a better word) as well.
