  When I read that I was also fairly skeptical... or perhaps it’s my BASH script reading and writing skills which are sub-par (which they most definitely are, but in most other programming languages I can at least appreciate the craft of a master coder when I come across it... but I’ve never ever seen any such wonderful source of amazement in BASH).

      Depends what you mean by “understanding ESAC”. Of course I understand CASE/ESAC. I ‘understand’ Duff’s Device in C (even though I don’t think I could’ve ever come up with it myself). I’m just saying that this strikes me as rather... inelegant?
