Your reply is very unclear -- you are scared because someone doesn't want a massive patch that touches everything and adds another thing everyone has to remember? Why is this worth it? I'm not saying it isn't, but it's reasonable for people to want very clear wins, and no alternative, for this kind of massive change which adds a little more cognitive load to everyone, forever.
