In the US one great start to solving these two problems would be a UBI and a significant carbon tax. I'm curious; where is the talk of a planned economy coming from? Who is the most famous current economist or writer that is proposing such? My general impression is that the planned economy mostly exists in the imaginations of many on the right, who ascribe it to all Democrats.
