This is not normal or acceptable. It's not even their money so if the bullies have this extreme loss aversion they should not even be in the job. Normalizing abuse is also a problem. In graduate school I was in a lab where the professor was abusive from day one. In retrospect I should've quit that same day! That being said we just spent 4 years being abused by the President.
