As someone who played a lot with DN3D level editor, yes, the mirrors were a huge hack. But then came Shadow Warrior, a fun game, a bit less successful, that re-used most of DN3D game engine and added yet another layer of hacks: They had a level with reflective floor... AND A MIRROR ON A WALL! Looking at it with the editor was an unholy mess of sprites and scripts.
