Tecno-Crapitalism, Techno-Demons, and Mishima
- rektide 6y agoI have high (mal)confidence this thing is about to shoot way off the rails but what an opening!!!! ok well at least I'm let down by non-delivery. the changeover to this post bring a recommendation splash is about nothing. lulled a little in the middle then oh hey here's some super sweet rec. my initial expectation was that it was going to have some weird axe to grind, have something to say about cloud & remote computing, being users of these monopoly-utilities. I didn't really feel any connection back to the original, lovely stated, connectivity empowerments that set off the beginning.
- rektide 6y agoMoldbugman's long petty list of stupid trivial grievances is both accurate, but also entirely ignorant & unwilling to make any positive moral stand. Built entirely around dark side rages & frustration, but with the sophistication of an entitled toddler. The actual ignobility isn't the malfunctions, the errors, but how indignitously resistant & resolute the systems about us are to our facilitations. The software is hard-set, fixed, from other far away powers, all the softness has been baked out in the release process, and we are subject to these computations. We lack meaningful engagement with the machines & systems all about us. I like the starting premises, about lack of control, about Techno-Crapitalist Psychosis. But I have no moral sympathy, no connection at all, to the rest of the blog post or the Moldbugman post it starts off citing as inspiration.
