Quite so. The idea of a society based fundamentally on positive freedom is intrinsically oxymoronic
- JetAlone 6y agoIn a way. Where freedom is made fundamental instead of deriving from an even higher fundamental principle it creates a power vacuum, and encourages those who fundamentally value something else to destroy it. Kind of like how we went from almost unilaterally valuing the sanctity of life a generation or two ago (as per the parent comment's aunt and uncle, rest in peace), to here and now, publically discussing the moralilty of destroying yourself.
