In my experience, new C++ programmers struggle with build and packaging systems a lot more than they do the arcane error messages. Compile times for established codebases also cause frustration for newcomers. Bad error messages are also a frustration, but it's not the worst part. In those cases, they can look for examples, read guideline documents (books, really), and play around on compiler explorer to get familiar with idioms.
