Oh I understand that completely, which is why I state that I do have privilege as a white person. but the left has a messaging problem wherein too many of the bougie whites narcissisticaly believe all of their privileges are shared amongst whites.
Even apart from your examples, (you missed Japanese interment camps/stolen wealth, probably the worst thing the US did domestically in the 20th century) racial profiling is still extremely real in this country. Which is on everyone radar, but it's really put into focus the times I've traveled cross country and consistently see POC on the side of the interstate.
>These examples of explicit racial discrimination happened well within living memory.
I mean, the way I see it, explicit financial discrimination is still happening today. Its just called affirmative action.

Redlining, the entire history of USDA subsidies in the 20th century, the GI bill etc are far more economically impacting than any meager adjustments to the dominance of white people in business and government. White people need to STFU about affirmative action as it has not meaningfully changed the shape of leadership in our workforce.
- TA2020170321 6y agoHow is a policy explicitly based on specific races not racist? And who are "white people"? I really find the whole concept of "white people" racist. My Polish family were discriminated against for being Polish when they moved here, to the point of being shot at by more wealthy neighbors and consistent unfair treatment from the justice system. This was my grandfather and his brothers. >Nope. Redlining, the entire history of USDA subsidies in the 20th century, the GI bill etc are far more economically impacting than any meager adjustments to the dominance of white people in business and government edit: I've been flagged, I believe for what i was trying to say below, so let me try again. This is something we as a society really need to come to a consensus on if we ever hope to end tribalistic hate. I really want to bridge the gap here, and I don't understand this. I believe in equality of opportunity, which is why I can't stand systemic racism or unconscious bias. I have seen no evidence that we can fight those particular things, not their down stream effects of equality of outcome mind, by actively treating people unequally within society. I am completely open to having my mind changed, but my understanding of history and anthropology leads me to believe that it only serves as a wedge.
