I liked especially living in cliff walls in "Red Mars"! Anyway "Red Mars" sold me the impression of many people being "outside" quite a lot. But with accordance to dust problems this does not seems to be too likely. Moving freely in the world with similar gravity would be probably one of the killer features of colonizing another planet/asteroid.
