Semi-related: is anyone else kind of sick of "poptimism" and the idea that its a good thing corporate culture and massive corporations are coopting trends and movements?
- gumby 6y agoThis problem has been studied for a long time (well, starting in the early 1900s) and the scholarship in this area is extensive, in particular starting in the early 60s and onwards. You can go back to Bernays (Freud’s nephew) and his work on “Propaganda” (which until the 30s was the term for public relations — he was a founder of that field) or perhaps more relevantly famously Marshall McLuhan in the 60s.
