I always get the impression that in USA humanities education (high school even) there's a fixation on take-home essays and they are main form of students' gradable output. Am I wrong and is it the case all around the world? Can't tell as the only prose as an EE major I had to write was seminar presentations and lab/project reports. And obviously the thesis.
